1,260,077. Colour
television tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC &
ASSOCIATED INDUS- TRIES Ltd. 3 Sept., 1970 [6
Sept., 1969], No. 42246/70. Heading H1D. In a
colour television tube wherein a shadow mask is
supported in a faceplate by means of resilient
members attached to the mask and provided with
apertures which engage studs on the faceplate, the
greater thermal expansion and hardness of the
members may cause them to deform the studs when
they shrink on cooling from the high temperatures
employed in pro- cessing the tube; the rigidity
caused by this effect is avoided by making the
apertures in the resilient members circular and
the studs tri- angular with rounded apices. The
resilient members may be bimetal strips, the
strips being joined along their narrow edges and
the aperture being provided in the strip having
the larger thermal expansion coefficient. The
studs are conical and the angle of the cone should
prefer- ably be increased from the usual 15 to 20
degrees. As a modification the studs may be
secured to the resilient members and the apertures
pro - vided in the envelope or in a member secured
to the envelope. |
