Clad metal or electron beam welded metal is used as an integral
part of the compensated suspension system of color television shadow
mask frame assemblies. The thermostat metal spring is compressed at
its hole, which is suspended onto a tapered stud protruding from the
front glass panel. When the television tube is energized, electron
bombardment of the shadow mask results in heating and consequent
expansion of the mask. The thermostat metal responds to the
temperature change and adjusts the position of the mask to correct
the focal distance between the electron guns and the mask,
maintaining color fidelity. |
